Construction of a Crab Claw Catamaran

-by Kris Seluga

Background:

I have been sailing and racing beach catamarans (mostly nacra's) for over 15 years.  In the Fall of 2001, I decided that I wanted an alternative for the days when I just wanted to cruise around for a few hours and didn't have the time or energy to setup the nacra.  My goal was to design a small cat that would still go pretty fast but take only 15 minutes to setup off the trailer.  Thus, I began my first boat building project.  This web site describes the design and construction of the plywood beach catamaran I eventually built using a Polynesian style "crab claw" sail.
